CBP officer opens fire at another driver on Van Wyck Expressway, Port Authority says
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer fired his gun at another driver Tuesday morning during a dispute on the Van Wyck Expressway, according to the Port Authority police.
Officials said the incident happened around 4:45 a.m. on the highway’s southbound side, near the entrance to JFK’s central terminal area.
The officer told police he was involved in a minor two-car crash and the driver of the other car assaulted him, Port Authority officials said. The officer stated he fired his service weapon several times during the altercation, according to authorities.
Port Authority police said no one else was involved in the crash or shooting, and they were still investigating whether anyone was injured.
